i heard four older people speaking in the lobby of the jean-georges restuarant on tuesday...catching the end of the conversation they said (with much laughter) "oh we are such capitalists! it is just all about money to us!"

hm.

there was a long time where i considered myself a capitalist/objectivist. mostly because of my deep dislike for mediocrity.

i am now trying to find a way to agree with an ayn rand concept of letting atlas shrug while the poor and downtrodden (artists, unemployed single parents, flood victims, etc....) discover their capacity to make a living. either with housing or jobs. but you have to be willing to go socialist in order to get that to occur.
